Usage

Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (Hydroxy pinacone retinoic acidHPR) is a retinol derivative,

which can directly bind with cellular retinoic acid receptors (RARs), and has the function of

regulating the metabolism of the epidermis and stratum corneum. However, retinoic acid ester (HPR)

can be converted into retinoic acid (retinoic acid) in a single step of hydrolysis, which has a faster effect.

In addition, the stimulation of retinoic acid ester (HPR) is much smaller than that of retinol or retinol ester, and its stability is also very high.

The big promise of HPR is that it's similarly active as retinoic acid (no conversion needed, remember)

but without the irritation. According to the manufacturer's tests, 24 hours of an occlusive

patch with 0.5% HPR resulted in significantly lower irritation than 0.5% retinol. Also, there was a

"dramatic reduction of lines and wrinkles" after applying 0.2% HPR around the eyes twice a day for 14 days.

One of the significant advantages hydroxypinacolone retinoate has over retinol and other vitamin A

derivatives used in active ingredient cosmeceuticals today is that it does not require a conversion to retinoic acid.

Once applied to the skin it can bind directly to the receptors allowing a cascade of events to take place

which produce the antiaging effects, reduction in pigmentation marks and blemishes, improving the

appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reducing sebum production, minimising pores and improving skin texture.

Furthermore, increased hydration and an improvement in the glow of the skin can also be expected.

The second significant advantage hydroxypinacolone retinoate has over other forms of Vitamin A is ingredient stability.

Thermal stress tests have shown that hydroxypinacolone retinoate will remain stable and effective in the skin for up to 15 hours.
